Every Fun Ship in the Carnival fleet is unique. However, a virtually endless supply of entertainment options is something you are guaranteed to find on each and every one of our floating resorts. Take a look around. There's something for everyone. Our friendly Fun Ship casinos are some of the largest at sea and feature all of the great games of a land-based casino. Fun and exciting times are a sure thing. Carnival's casino staff offers complimentary gaming lessons on each and every cruise. For Kids: The award-winning "Camp Carnival" is available on all ships year-round, for kids and teens aged 2 to 15, with designated areas for specific age groups that are supervised by youth counselors. Facilities are open from 9:30 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. daily, and babysitting is available in port or at sea. Activities are geared by age group: toddlers (aged two to four years); intermediates (ages five to eight years); juniors (ages nine to 12 years) and teens (ages 13 to 17 years). Cribs are available upon request, but bring your own strollers. Ship Reviews... Cuisine: Considering the moderate cost of these ships, Carnival constantly surprises with the quality of its food. It is amazing that they can actually serve 2,000 passengers and almost 1,000 crew more than 10,000 individual meals daily and not only do it in an orderly manner, but present really wonderful tasting and beautifully presented meals. You can find food available 24/7 either in one of the restaurants, room service, the buffet, or specialty shops like the deli and pizza bar. New on these ships is a specialty coffee bar with pastries and desserts, available at an extra charge. Restaurants: There are three restaurants on this class of ship: the informal La Playa Grill on the Lido deck; the semiformal Nouveau Supper Club, where jackets for men and reservations are required (and a small charge is added to your Sail & Sign card); and the two-level Empire Dining Room, which has an annex called the Napoleon Room with tables for eight and sometimes 10. The main dining room has early (6:00pm) and late (8:15pm) seatings, as well as the new "Your Time" Dining option, where you make reservations for your choice of times on a daily basis (5:45-9:30pm). The Supper Club is open from 6 p.m. to 9:30pm, and so is the informal La Playa Grill. Service: You can expect personal and friendly, if somewhat informal, service from the staff. They will learn your names the first evening and by the second night should have your personal preferences in drinks, extras, and breads ready and waiting for you. The staff is using a new concept called 'team service' with a headwaiter and a number of assistants serving up to four tables as a team effort--which seems to work better than the usual waiter/assistant waiter concept. After all this they still manage a warm and friendly smile and perform dances and other entertainment almost nightly. Attire: While there are two formal nights, most men opt for dark suit instead of tux; jeans and shorts aren't allowed in the dining room after 6 p. m. Daytime wear is strictly casual. Ambience Aboard Carnival Spirit, most of the public rooms are glossy bronze. Designer Farcus says the decor is art nouveau, with a beautiful French design, touches of hand-etched glass, carved wooden banisters, high quality upholstery and marble floors. If you love a high- energy atmosphere, this is the ship for you! Public Areas: You enter the ship on Deck 2 (Promenade), into what is called the Spirit Atrium. This is the area where you will find a nine-deck-high ceiling with frescos painted all the way to the top. Additionally there are four glass elevators that will take you to Deck 9 (Lido), where you can take a glass stairway to the Nouveau Supper Club --the reservations-only, jackets-required dining area featuring prime beef, seafood and the stone crabs from the famous Joe's Stone Crab Restaurant. There is a bar with a three-piece orchestra for your enjoyment. Deck 9 (Lido Deck) is where alternative dining, pools, spa etc. are located. Deck 1 forward has the Versailles Lounge. Decks 2,3 and 4 also contain the main showroom called Pharaohs Palace. The arcade is located all the way forward on Deck 4, and the Children's Funhouse is forward on Deck 5. There is a quiet place called the Jungle located on Deck 3 that wraps around the main showroom, where you can sit and read a book, if you need time away from the activities and the hustle and bustle of the ship. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Staterooms... The Carnival Spirit has spacious staterooms! The standard cabin is a comfortable 180 sq.ft., tastefully decorated in beige and peach. Very well designed and laid out, they seem larger than they are. Amenities include a twin/king bed configuration, color TV with three movies per day, enormous closets, refrigerator, hair dryer, large vanity, safe and sofa. And the deluxe Private Balcony cabin is very comfortable, at 230 sq. ft. Suites are 275- 300 sq. ft. All Fun Ship staterooms are, on average, 50 percent large than those of other cruise lines. But on the Carnival Spirit, staterooms are even larger and more lavishly appointed. Even better, 80 percent of the staterooms have beautiful ocean views; and of those, 80 percent have private balconies. There's no better way to enjoy the magnificent scenery! Interior Staterooms feature two twin beds that convert to a king-sized bed, a private bathroom with shower, bathrobes, toiletry amenity basket, beach towels, refrigerator, minibar, interactive TV, minisafe, phone, and hairdryer. Approximately 185-sq.-ft. stateroom. Oceanview Staterooms are larger and also feature two twin beds that convert to a king-sized bed, a private bathroom with shower, bathrobes, toiletry amenity basket, beach towels, also a sititng area with sofa, a refrigerator, minibar, interactive Television, minisafe, phone, and hairdryer...and feature a large Picture Window with a panoramic ocean view! Approximately 185-sq.-ft. stateroom. Private Balcony Staterooms have all of the above amenities plus feature a private furnished balcony where you can sit to enjoy the ocean breezes and spectacular views, while you enjoy a cocktail or late night snack from room service. 185-235sq.-ft. staterooms with 35-sq.-ft. balcony! Many consider this the only way to cruise. Balcony accommodations allow you to experience panoramic vistas right from the privacy of your own stateroom.
